I started my blog Down The Rabbit Hole to document the stories I unearth in my personal genealogical research and investigations for others.
Along with the stories I thought I’d also share the family research I am currently involved in and share my favorite websites and resources. I have been involved in this type of internet based research for more than fifteen years and have helped many others with their own research problems.
I find this work personally rewarding and I hope others will enjoy the stories.
For more information on my family lines please click on the surname for a basic overview.
My father’s parents were William Oran Epps and Lucy “Mary” Reese of Greenville South Carolina. The Epps surname is fairly common in South Carolina. Ours have been tracked back to Newberry but not beyond that. My grandmother’s Reeses originated in North Carolina. Both of these lines ended up in Greenville where they worked in the textile mills.
My mother’s parents were both from southwestern Virginia. My grandfather Lacy Marshall Lester was born in a cabin near Glade Spring and my grandmother Elsie Allie Kate Denton was born in Denton’s Valley. Her mother died of the Spanish Flu when she was a young girl. Denton’s Valley lays both in Sullivan County Tennessee and Washington County Virginia.
